Aimed more at the UK owners really because I think we might have a different type of alarm on our X's over here (but I might be wrong ) ...But I've owned my X for a few months now and the alarm doesn't seem to do anything . the lights dont flash when I lock her , and if I open the door with the key the alarm doesn't sound , which leads me to believe the alarm is not working  Do any of you guys know where abouts the alarm is on the UK Explorer ? I have also got a plastic card that came with the car with a security code on it (not for the radio) does this have anything to do with the alarm ?
Thanks for any help you can give

Dave :uk: :us: :chug:

Do you have the two button remote or the three button remote?

On my 98 (two button remote) when you lock the car with the remote this arms the system (without flashing any lights). If you now open a door without the key (or with a non chipped key) the horn will sound. Try leaving someone in the car, lock with the remote and then get them to open a door, the horn should sound.

As for the plastic card I have no idea, as I never had one with mine.

PS It does take a few moments to arm and you can tell when it has because the light on the dash will start flashing.

Thanks Howard , I'd hoped you might have an answer for me . So it seems that lights don't flash when you remote lock the doors then (I've got a 2 button remote) ? I guess I've just got used to my previous cars flashing at me :D .I must admit I did test it but I unlocked the door with a chiped key so this might be where I went wrong  . Looks like I'm going to have to lock my daughter in there then and give that a try .Thanks again , very kind

Thanks again Howard , tried it last night and it worked fine , I'm sure the handbook does say the lights flash though  good old Ford UK

No problem. I think you can get it to flash the lights by changing the region the car is in but I don't know how to do that. If you find out I would be interested because my friend's (smokegrinder) 97 does indeed flash the indicators when you lock/unlock the car.

Just another question for you guys , I know it's a lot to ask , but have any of you UK owners got the additional service schdule book for the Explorer, I think it came in the origional owners wallet along with the service book and owners manual and tells you extra things that need to be done specifically for the Explorer . Mine is missing ,and I was wondering if any of you were really bored one day you could perhaps scan the important bits and e-mail it to me . davidshiers@onetel.com

Thanks for any help .

Dave
