Just to let you guys know I have found a new place to source parts for Explorers and other American cars.
They Also do Auto transmissions.

find them at www.aldersautomatics.com

I went there to have a vent tube on my tranny fixed and my codes read.... 40 pounds!

Warning!!! you will be made a coffee when you get there!

Hi folks, anyone know where I can source a set of rear handbrake shoes for a 98 Explorer without parting with £100!

Hand brake shoes often turn up on eBay for about £40 a set. (I just had a look and there are none listed at the moment...) Don't be fooled into thinking you need new shoes because the linings on yours look worn down. They are like that when new - about half the thickness of what you might expect for rear shoes on a conventional car. I thought mine were worn so I bought a new set only to find that the new ones were exactly the same as the 'worn' ones. Carefull adjustment is the key to an efficient hand brake. (Parking brake or emergency brake to our friends in the US!)
