92 2dr Explorer XL
Hi all,

I went to my local ford dealership to get a alignment done on my 92 explorer. I thought this was gonna be a quick $50 thing. But upon getting there they told me I hade to replace camber adjusters on the x which cost $60 each it seems the originals werent adjustable. I thought it was the old bait and switch so i told them I would have to wait till I had more $. Were they shovin a rainbow up my butt or what? Any information ideas and if I do have to replace these are they hard to do.
thanx in advance

The camber on my BII is adjusted using bushings that fit on the upper ball joint. I think it's the same on the early explorers, but I could be wrong. I recently had the alignment checked on my BII and my camber is about 1 degree off on each side. I checked on the price for those bushings, and they cost $15-25 each, depending on the adjustment needed (they come in 1/2 degree increments). Changing them is as "simple" as pulling off the upper ball joint, removing the old bushing, determining which bushing needs to be put in, and replacing the ball joint.

great thanx for the info. The guys at the ford dealership didnt even take my truck in to look at it they just said it needed emm right off the bat. sounds like a scam to me which really ticks me off considering I fixed and upgraded one of the mechanics computers for free. GRRR
Never ceases to amaze me that no matter how much money you spend with a dealership they are always lookin for a way to weasel more dinero outta ya!
