nice to see ford coming out with a good idea like the sport trac, and chevy running to get the carbon paper so they dont fall behind...

yeah, did you see the new Cadillac escalade with the truck bed.
i think it comes out next year.

YUCK!

I don't like the look of this "copy" at all. I don't really favour "truck" and "SUV" hybrid vehicles, but if I had a choice between these two; Ford's SportTRAC would win hands down!

On a side note, Stephen is right; taking someone else's idea's for a car or truck design is all in the name of the game for when it comes to automakers! Competition is what makes the world go around! It’s sad really… but I still think that Chevy is ugly!! LOL

Peter

ok guys I hate to bring this to anyones attention for fear of being yelled at, but nissan's version of the sportrac came out several months before Ford's did. So, in theory, FOrd just copied nissan.

Matt you are correct but, if you do a search ford had something called the Adrenaline ????????? about 5-10 yrs ago as a concept. I think nissan copied that idea! The Chevy pictured above is a fullsize truck and is by far the ugliest thing I have ever seen! I live in Dallas, Tx and am already seeing them everywhere. Bad thing to see on the road.

Well if we are going to get picky, both Nissan and Toyota had a dual cab, small truck available outside of the US for the last 10-15 years. It was only recently that someone figured that maybe Americans might like it too :)

Yup, Robert is correct. Four years ago when I was in Australia, Nissan and Toyota already had those four doors pick up for at least 4 years. My wife's uncle had a 1992 Nissan 4 door pick up.

Won't be long until some body here is going to come out with something like a four door malibu with a pick up bed. The Australians have them already, Holden, there was an article in Car-N-Driver magazine a few months back on that vehicle. And I bet the manufacturers here are going to call it a pickup/car/station wagon hybrid!!! How original.

yes, the Toyotas and Nissans are quite common here in Norway anyway. Here's a link to a buildup of a

Even though I don't know of anyone (except for me) using the Xplorer offroad we have a lot of theese beeing used for it...

Big difference between this Avalanche and ST. This thing is built on the Tahoe Chassis, 280 HP V8. It is Hughe! And it has the ability to have a full bed for storage.

Looking at it objectively, that is un hell of a vehicle.

yeah...but it still says Chevy on it. heheh!

chevy is the crappiest car maker EVER! i hate all their stuff and this new car looks like cheap plastic. my rc car has more offroading capabilities than this. the quality is so low and its not geared towards offroading. i'm sure if i had bought a blazer and tried to offroad i'd have much more stuff broke than if i had an X and tried to offroad

jas84 dont get me started on my RC truck...thazt thing could kick the crud out of my X.....It has Independent suspension... .15 size gas engine, 2 speed forward and reverse auto trany, full mip cvd (hardend steel driveshafts?Constant Velocity Drives) 3.5 inches of suspension travel...1/10 th scale...3 channel radio...(steering,throtle,and forward/reverse shifter) #% mph top speed...solid aluminum bumpers...billet skid plates front to rear...cool transfer case........hehehehe

james, what kind of rc car is it? is it the T-MAXX! that car kicks butt

guys, i am aware that it is the nature of the business to copy ideas from other companies, i was merely pointing out how it seems as though chevy has taken the ride on ford's coattails (more than a few times.)

as for toyota having a 4 door pickup truck a long time ago, the sport trac is not a 4 door pick up truck. the ranger and the f-series are pick up trucks, the sport trac is an suv with an open trunk - its still an explorer.

and as for nissans copy of the sport trac a few months before ford, well, a few months doesnt mean anything. the sport trac could have been designed 5 years ago, and the nissan 4 years ago - release dates are irrelevant. just look at the the new 2002 explorer, it should have been out long before it did come out (we wont mention that ford kept botching them up), so chevy got to release the trailblazer to compete with the new explorer at the same time.

I still wish they would have produced the adrenaline and the indigo.
