I have a 97 XLT and the right side cruse control lights are out on the stering wheel. Also the green light on the fog light switch is out, but the red light that tells you it's on still works. What's the deal with it I know it sounds like I am a nick-picker but it looks stupid whn the defroster button works fine and the left side of my stering wheel controls work and the other stuff dose not.

I have the same problem, I just took the dash apart to find the bulb for the fog light switch, and tomorrow im going to a dealer to try and get a replacement. I don't know about your Cruise control lights, I think mine work. But tell me this, does yout Headlight switch light up at all? mine has never lit up, and im wondering if it doesn't light up or is the bulb just burned out??

The light in my headlight switch is also not working. And about the cruise control bulbs, they are out. Both of mine are burnt out and guess what?? Ford has NO replacements. I have no idea why, but there are no replacement bulbs available, you have to buy the whole control assembly to get new bulbs, to the tune of $150+ a piece (if I remember right). Just another way for them to make money. Try a search for steering wheel lights or cruise control lights. There are a couple of threads here describing my and another fella's ordeals with Ford and these bulbs.

I've had my headlight switch light go twice, my fog light switch, my right side heater controls go... I've been lucky with my cruise control that it hasn't gone (knock on wood). Each time, except for the first time headlight switch, I replaced the bulbs or switch myself. It's not difficult, just time consuming. Oh yeah, I also have to change my front right marker light too. That went in the last few days.

Adam,
Where did you get the bulbs to replace them with?
I went to a Ford Dealership, and they were unable to locate a part # for the bulbs. I also tried Torrie @ The Ford Parts Network, He also had no luck. The one place I did have luck was a local scrap yard, they had a 95-97 Explorer with the lights that I needed.

There are 5 Different Style/Shape bulbs.
Climate Controls = This is the same as the bulbs in the instrument panel
Rear Wiper = T-Shaped, Short, White Base
Fog Lights & Rear Defroster = Plastic Screw-in, Short Length, Black Base
4x4 Switch = Plastic Screw-in, Medium Length, Gray Base
Head Lights = Plastic Screw-in, Long Length, Black Base
(The Head Light Switch Light Bulb stays on when ever the truck is on, This is reason why most of ours is burned out.) Im thinking of re-wiring it so that it only comes on when the head lights are on such as all the other lights in the truck.

Right now I have a bulb that is for the 4x4 Switch in my Head Light switch so that I have the switch light up. So it will work, but i don't think that the light bulb from the Fog Lights & Rear Defroster would work due to it would be too short.
