2000 Explorer front suspension squeaks bad...do not want to sink too much cash....any ideas?
 






Most likely your ball joints are shot. DIY with decent parts will cost you around $100. Quality parts around $160-170.
 






Check control arm and shock bushings.
Both easy to replace and fairly inexpensive.
 






Cheap? Try greasing your ball joints.
