im thinking about buying the alpine 5x7 components. the stereo shop that i normally go to reccomended those to me. he said they will sound good on my alphasonik 600.4 amp. another stereo shop said if you want the best buy the mb quarts. is the extra 100 bucks for the mb quarts worth it? anybody running either of these speakers? i would rather go with the cheaper of the two, but if the alpines suck i wanna know. haha. im looking for good quality sound since my JL W3v2s on the 1000w rms JL amp drown out my kenwood coaxles when i turn it up. THANK YOU ALL IN ADVANCE!!!!

I have actually heard that the Infinity's are a much better deal, and they are about the same price as the Alpines.

IMHO, MBQuarts are overpriced.

"R" series are kickass. X and S aren't bad.

i was gonna get some TypeR components but were not going to carry them at my work, so there goes that idea.. i thought type x was above type r too. I know the type x subs have a peak of 3000w with 1000w RMS. i could be wrong cause i dont dont know jack about speakers.

go with bostons

yeah i tuned them up and all that they do sound kick ass. i heard the X series were supposed to be one up above the r's.

I got them mixed up. I forgot the X were the latest and greatest.

you had me so confused!

the thing with 5x7 components is that they're just the same as a 5x7 coaxial but just split up. unless you get the highest components that are powered by a strong amp, you really don't hear that much difference in highs.

i had infinity 5x7 coaxials, finally put 5x7 comps in, heard a slight improvement, but not enough to justify the time/labor/money spent. so i put in the highest comp series (infinity kappa perfect 6.1s 6.5s), powered near 300w to each one rms, the crisp sound was insane.

but again, this is just all speculation from my expierence.

Is it speculation or experience, it cannot be both.......

I have infiniti and i love them, it was a great deal. They have great hi's and mids. Goes great with my MTX subwoofer!!
