i just installed an Alpine Head unit with a one-channel amp, and 2 12's.
everything works but every time i turn the car off and then back on again the head unit resets or something, all my FM presets are gone, all the Bass and treble settings are set back to Zero. Everything goes back to how it was when i first put it in and turned it on.

i did wire both the Ignition positive and Power positive(from alpine unit) wires to the same stock ignition power wire. i could not get any power from the stock power wire(yellow, after wiring kit was plugged in)

any help would be appreciated

i really need to get this figured out

thanks

the yellow (memory power supply) needs to be hhoked up to a constant power supply. the ignition only works when the car is turned on. try rehooking the yellow back up the way the diagram says, it doesnt need a lot of power. other than that you could try hooking it up to another constant power source.

Sounds like hes right. You need to find constant power or run your own.

would like a small battery work for constant power?

i cant remove the headunit again, i think im missing a Alpine removal tool

thanks

constant power is what runs the internal amp and everything, i'm suprised you got it running on ignition, that's not alot of power there :/

i'd take it out and check everything, use a test light or a voltmeter or something. i think most alpines come out with little hook things, push it up with your fingernail or a flathead screwdriver.

mrpeaches? what are you talking about? the constant (yellow) is what runs the memory, the ignition (red) powers the internal mosfets, display...so on.

i know what i need to do for the constant power, i just cant get ther deck out. does any one kno how to remove the alpine deck?

What model is the deck? Mine just has some little clips on the right and left that are fairly easy to unhook using your fingernail or a small flat blade. I know some of the older models needed a tool to unhook them, if you dont have those run by and audio shop most guys will pop it for a tip.

mine is a CDE-9843

Yea, you should have the spring loaded locking clips on the sides of the unit, you have to remove the faceplate and the bezel to get to them but they should be obvious.

i never got any removal keys when i bought the deck, can i pick some up at Car Toys or something

Can't you just pull the whole bezel out and leave the radio in the sleeve? If you need a constant power take it off the cigar lighter.

that might work i think ill try that way first, before i go to Car Toys
thanks
