I've just placed my order with the local car audio store for an Alpine IVA-C800 Head unit. Has anyone installed this or any other Alpine Multimedia displays in a 91-94 Explorer and if so, where did you put the brains and did you have any interferance with the dash? I was told I should be able to fit the brain under the drivers seat. Yeah, right. Any info would be appreciated.

BTW, I got to play with it at thier store, ITS WICKED COOL!

Skippman,
I would LOVE to see to some pictures of the setup after that unit is installed. I have been pondering a multimedia unit myself and some pics may make up my mind. How clear was the display while you were playing with it in the store? I have heard they have problems with the displays being clear in the sunlight. Thanx!

I looked at both the Alpine units (CVA-1005 / IVA-C800) and the Pioneer units. The Pioneer unit clearly had a larger display, but what more difficult to operate (Not somthing you want in a car). The Alpine CVA-1005 is a killer unit, however it lacked the CD player I wanted and the slave DVD unit will not play burnt disks (I have a problem leaving originals in the truck). So I decided to hold out for the IVA-C800. I have the first one ever sold in St. Louis sitting at my friends car stereo shop, HiFi FoFum. After I get my truck back on Monday (In the shop for a lift kit) I will get around to installing it. I will post pictures of the final product here and in the "Before and After" section. I do have some reservations however, as the screen will partially if not entirely block the center vent. We'll see how it goes.

BTW, anyone have any idea how much free space there is behind the drivers side rear quarter pannel by the seat belt? I'm concerned about where to put the brain's of the unit. (Roughly the same size as a whitepages phone book).
