I am pretty sure my alternator went this morning. Can someone tell me if it is to difficult to try and change it myself, and if not how I can go about doing this.

This is a 2000 Explorer.

Thanks

Its pretty easy; you should be able to do it.

It should take you about an hour to complete the task.

Good luck ....

I believe its only 3 bolts to get it off of the mount. Most difficult part will be wrestling the belt on and off.

You only need to remove the belt from the alternator pulley; not a complete removal. Should take less than 1 minute.

Here's what happened, I was driving and the battery light came on then right before it died the abs light came on and then the speedometer stopped working then it died.

Do tou think it is the alternator, as I do?

Thanks for your help.

Take the alternator to a parts store and have it checked before you replace it.

You may have other issues.
