My Alternator on my 96 Explorer XLT 4.0 ohv is down for the count and I can't rebuild it

After pricing out a re-man at Advanced for $139. I am wondering why I even need a 130 amp Alt.

My AC no longer works and I am wondering if I can get a lower amp alt as a replacement. I have read that they make a 90 amp one but I don't know if it is plug and play or if it will even be big enough. I only run the lights, radio and cruse...

Any suggestions or comments ?

Many thanks,

the AC system... doesnt use that much electricity

unless you stripped all the extra electronics out of your truck, I'd stay with the 130

call the local junk yard
