Alternator- Real Quick question for new installation

OK,

Just put a new alternator in and it is making a humming sound, almost as if there is resistance. Is this normal? It was a perfect fit and belt has good tension. New battery as well. Does it just need a good highway breaking in?

The alternator it self is humming? If so I'd say there is something wrong with it.
