I've been looking for a way to get some nicer seats in my 01 sport trac, and I've found I like seats to have a little more wraparound, some lateral support. Playing around in a junkyard, I sat in the seats of a 01 mercury cougar and fell in love, they seemed perfect, they had a deep feel to them, with higher sides, and the adjustable headrests were way nicer than my fixed buckets. Plus, i love the way they look. So, my question is, if I pulled my seats and tracks out, how similar would the seats and tracks from the merc fit? Im assuming they wont fit directly, but im wondering if anyone knows what ill need to do to make them fit. Would just the seats mount to my manual tracks?

The ones I sat in we're cloth, but this is a pic of leather ones. Id prefer power leather, but manual cloth would make me very, very happy.

Don't know. You would have to take measurements. Even if the sits do fit you will probably have to do a little bit of modification to make them fit to the Explorer tracks.

check the stock frames you take off the factory seats for spacing on the bolts that hold the seats to them,

It may be the same spacing which would allow you to put the Cougar seats on the stock explorer frames, and than they would bolt right in,,
