Am i the only 4.0 that is having problems with my Apten?

I got my chip today and as my luck goes, poor rachel wont turn over. So I cleaned the contacts again and i didnt work so on my 3rd attempt failure.

Well, this just lead into another problem. I have a Kenwood Excelon deck with the rotating face and now the face is stuck parallel to the floor if that makes sense. I did the install per the book. Once again, its just my luck.

a lot of people are happy with their apten, and a lot of people think it is a piece of crap......
 






There has been some discussion about a problem like that (the no-start) with some of the 2nd gens.. Does it start up if you remove the chip?



Also, I had a Kenwood with the rotating face that did the something like that (before I got the chip) for no reason... Never could get it working right.. Now I have a Pioneer without the rotating face :)
 






Arent there some Xs with locked service ports or something? That would cause it to not turn over.

Sorry to hear its not working, from what others have said when theirs wouldnt work Brian has always been helpful in getting the problem fixed.
 






I just sent you an e-mail, I'm going to get you more info tomorrow morning sometime.

CDE2 and CDE3 are very common to have the ports disabled. I have some stuff here to take pictures of, and I'll send you an e-mail with further instructions sometime in the morning.

As far as the CD deck, does it work okay with the chip out? I don't see how they could be related, but I suppose it's possible that some wires got shuffeled around somehow. Let me know the model number of your Kenwood and I'll download their technical manual and see if i can find any explinations.

jimabena74 - I'd be curious to know who think's it's a POS. Certainly if those individuals own our chips I would like to resolve their problems or offer a full refund. To my knowledge everyone we have sold to was happy. If that's not the case, I would like to know about it.

Yeah im having starting problems as well since Ive installed the Chip. Im thinking it's a bad batt now!

Im gonna get the batt tested in a little bit, if its ok? Im gonna take the Chip out for a few days.

However, mine starts fine some days, and other days it doesnt start so well. Some times the engine starts and runs really rough.

Brian, i'll let you know how things go. But, i find it funny how this problem accured as soon as the chip was installed. But then again, it's been a very cold winter for us, so a bad batt isnt unlikely...

As I was reading through the old posts yesterday, it seemed that only 5.0's were having this problem. Guess I was wrong :) Like I said, stuff like this is just my luck.

Now, even with the chip out, my deck is shot. Granted, it doesnt make sense that the chip install would do it, but it is awefully coincidental. The deck is a KDC-X859.

bj... glad to know you are standing behind your product.....

anyways... i think that all that i had read, was that there were a lot of problems with it in when it came out..... but if you addressed those problems, then great... sorry for the bashing post above...... i am still kinda weary of new products as many members are, but as i learn more about the quality and especially the company itself, my opinions can and do change.... and if you are addressing the problems that people have, that says a lot in the way of a company earning respect from me.....
