Hi,

I have a problem and was hoping new plugs and Jacobs wires would solve it, but it didn't.

When on AM radio, I sometimes drive into weak area with static that shouldn't be happening as I'm only a few miles difference from the station. I guess the signal is slightly weaker due to wires or a hill being in the way. But it around town and not traveling further from the signal. I also know it shouldn't happen because my wife's 95 Windstar does not have a reception problem in those spots.

If I stop the car and turn the engine off the radio reception is fine. I do not note any appreciable increase in static if I race the engine. I have taken the antenna off and I lose reception completely. The antenna seems to be fine and jiggling it around does not create any sound.

The bottom of my driveway happens to be a perfect spot for the occurrence, but again my wife's car's reception is fine.

Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing this, or how to search for the problem? This is the standard radio on the 95 EB model.

Thanks,
Mike Walsh:
