If I were to run two JL Audio 8" subs rated for 200 watts, should i upgrade my amp to 400 watts to send 200 watts to each side? Or would I be able to keep running my 200 watt amp?

oh yeah, and I don't have the two subs yet, only one. so i can't just listen to it and see if i like it enough to keep running the 200 watt amp.

There are a few more variables involved...whats the resistance on the subs ie 8 or 4 Ohms? Is your amp 2 or 4 ohm stable...depending on the quality of the amp..you might be able to run it a 2 Ohms bridged which would have your speakers seeing the max rating of your amp..

why 2 8" subs ?

I would personally get one 12" or 10" over that.

well what kinda power supply do u have? i have 1000 watt power supply, with 5 gage wires, i run 2- 10 inch subs in a sealed box, with 1 500x2 kicker amp, and its very bassey, if u wanna run u 8's just get a 400x2 amp name brand with crossover, and that is bridgeable, 4 ohm would be better that way u can bridge your amp to 2 ohm, and it will sound alot louder, but i also have a smaller amp running my fronts and mids, i have great vocals, and loud deep bass.

i don't have a power supply, just the battery in my truck running my current amp. here is the whole plan:

two 8" subs in the back both rated for 200 watts
my 200 watt amp powering my door speakers (which are infinity references 6800's)
a new HU with two RCA outs (pioneer 6700)

will i need a power supply for that?
also, the signal from my HU remote wire is split between my amp remote wire and antenna. the antenna doesn't go up sometimes, i am thinking i need power for that too
