Amp Buying question? from newbie

I currently have a blaupunkt hu say 52x4w with factory speakers. I have $150 to spend on an amp (4 channel) to run the 4 factory speakers what suggestions on watts name bran ect..

Should I go with a name brand used amp from ebay or a noname brand new amp?

Also will I notice much of a difference with an amp because now with my hu running factory speakers it sounds terrible very quiet and muffeled. I just want my sound to be loud not to thump just loud and cear!

Oh yeah! how about buying some tweeters?

Hey man,
I would definatly not suggest adding an amp to your factory speakers. You would be much happier with the sound quality if you saved a little more money and bought some nice speakers.

Yea, I would replace your factory speakers first, You might need a little more than $150, but for under $100 a set you should be able to get some decent 5X7s. I know a lot of people around here use Pioneers, so I would try to stick with the name brands. Also if you havn't bypassed the factory amp yet, if you have one, I would recomend doing that, that will clear up the sound quite a bit...

[edit] I just realized you have an XL, so you probably dont have a factory amp...yea, get some speakers first, that will make the world of a difference...

I just got a pair of 6.5 blaupunkt speakers for dirt cheap and plan on installing them will an amp help me know??? the speakers are not componants but i hear that they are really good quality? looking for an amp for about $150 used name brand from ebay or a brand new noname amp from flea market? what should i go with?

Id stay away from the flea market stuff if I were you. I myself am in the market for a 4 channel, and I have heard good things about the Sony 4 channel amps. I would also look at Audiobahn, that stuff goes pretty cheap on eBay

In that price range I would suggest theDead Link Removed lineup. I've heard good things about these mid level amps. I own the discontinued Jam600.4 (75X4) and have been very happy with it. Its a bit big but still fits under the seat. mmxpress has a 2 for $200 sale so a phone call might get you one for ~$100.

I have a sony 4 channel Xplod 200 watt amp for sale for $150. I only used it for 3 months, so it's practically new. Reason for selling is that I sold my car i had it in and I want to get a 400 watt 2 channel amp just dedicated to subs. If you are interested, PM me or send me an email. I have a dude that i work with that may buy it but he's lagging on deciding. I would like to sell it soon, so i can put that money towards my new purchase. Good amp. I bought it for $300 originally.
