Hello all, I need to know where the amp bypass goes. I got an aftermarket system and I'm not sure if they bypassed the factory amp. I am going to get on and I just need to make sure where it goes. Thanks for the help...Nick

Your 99 doesn't need an amp bypass (at least for the mids and highs) because the amp was built into the HU.

Ah ha, I thank you Alec for saving my some money. These installers were making a big deal about it. I don't think I will be taking my x to them. Thanks again.

i just bought a 98 xlt 4dr. i have the tape and cd hu with controls for the backseat. where is the stock amp located. i just installed my alpine 9811 and it sounds ok but i know it can sound better. i had it in my accord and it sounded really good.

For the dual media models, the amp is integrated in the receiver.

As far as the rear controls go, I know there is a way to block out out the rear controls, but don't remember which buttons to push. Also I had a new cd deck put in, I don't know how they connected the system, but would it normally hook up the same to the new deck as it did with the old unit and work the same?

so i guess i won't be having to do the amp bypass then. i don't have any rear controls anymore since i installed my alpine. but my rear speakers don't sound as loud. when i seat back there i can always hear the front speakers.

spkhone,

Mine's the same way. I'm looking at it this way, have no rear fill, take the extra cash and buy some better speakers for the front stage. Also with the 4 channel amp being only used in 2 channel mode I will have more power running to the front stage. This should make my system sound even better.
