Amp gain question

Ok, here's my current setup. Factory HU on 99X. SpeakerLevel->LowpassRCA adapter for the RCA's going to my amp. Bazooka EL1500 amp w/ dual 10" Infinity 1030W's.

When I was installing bass blockers, I noticed that if I adjusted the fade/balance in any way, the subs started hitting like 10X harder. Can this damage anything? I'm assuming the way the adapter is patched is causing something similar to a secondary gain? Subs are rated at 1000W max each and the amp only maxes @ 600W, so it shouldn't blow. And it doesn't sound like noise, which I know will damage subs.

Any ideas if this could be potentially harmful?

Since you used a LOC, the fade will play a key role in the signal to the amps. It's just like when you adjust the fade all the way forward, the front speakers get louder because you are increasing the signal to them while decreasing the signal to the rears. If you adjust the Fade more to the rear, then your rear speakers, as well as your external amplifier since it is receiving it's input from the rear speaker leads, will be receiving a stronger signal.

As long as you had the gains properly adjusted at 0 Fade and 0 Balance, then you should be fine. If you start to hear distortion from the subs, then either adjust the Fade a little more to the front or decrease the gains a little.
