I have an aftermarket amp. Don't exactly know the name, but it has "Select" on it. My problem is that the speakers that are hooked up to the amp don't work. I took a look at the amp and it has 2 indication lights, one for the power and one for protection. The protection light is on. I tried looking for a reset button, but did'nt find one. I also tried to disconnect the power to try to reset it and it did'nt work. Can anyone help?

Try all of these; check the fuses on the amp, the fuse near the battery, is the amp grounded properly and look at the wires for any thing that could be causing a short.

An amp will go into protection in any number of situations. In your case, it sounds like something is miswired.

Does the system play at all before it goes into protection? If so, you likely have an incorrect speaker load (2ohm instead of 4 or 8, for instance) on the amp. If it goes into protection immediately, its more likely something wrong with the how the power harness is wired.

double and tiple check your wiring. It sounds like you messed up somewhere and havent relieze. most important check you GROUND. so many problems just because of bad grounds.

Mine seems to cut in and out of protection if I have the bass pounding pretty hard and it's hot out. Can someone explain this??? If I was drawing to much current...shouldn't it just blow fuses???

ssikora check your ground that it is secured well. A good ground should be sanded down well and secured with a washer and screw.

SSIKORA - If the problem only occurs during hot days then it is simply overheating, try installing a fan or 2 blowing across the heatsink to cool it down.

That's what I was thinking, but, It can cut out like one minute after running the system....it shouldn't be overheating that bad after 1 minute.
