do it like the stealth enclosures and put it in the rear fenderwell

check out some of my pics, i have both my old and present setups on there. these are the 2 most logical places to put the amps.

My last system I had the amp behind the rear passenger side panel. Nice and stealth install. My new amp is too large for that location so it is mounted on the rear seat. Actually now that I have 2 amps one amp for the front components is on the driver side seat with the crossovers and the sub amp is on the passenger side seat.

thanks for help

Thanks for your help I spent 3 hours and moved the amp to under neath the left rear seat tonight, thanks for your input. Ill try to take some pics

MrSteve,

In a rough estimate, what is the longest amp you could mount behind the panel for a two door?

Thanks,

Jon

right now i have mine mouted underneat the rear seat but now i am looking for a project to do to keep me busy in the spring so i am goin to be moving it behind the rear panel.

JTang,
I'll check for you tomorrow. The small panel that covers the stock sub isn't even connected to my rear panel right now so i'll just measure it. It all depends on how it is mounted. The main problem is that there isn't much depth. My amp was mounted at an angle where the bottom of the amp was up against the interior panel and the top of the amp was on the body panel. It's complicated. Actually my father just got a digital camera so maybe i'll take some pics of the compartment and you could see what it all looks like.

I got mine right in sight on the back i got 2 mono phoenix gold amps , but maybe that's cause i'm running with 2 15" Eartquake magma's...i didn't have too much room left to put them anywhere else, but hey.....they move everything in the car, heheheh

Thanks Steve.

SpiderGear - Magmas- how do you like 'em? I see pictures, but they look like they're way too mean for anything I could ever listen to! :-) What kind of volume do those things need?

Sorry you're gonna have to wait another day I've got a 15 page thesis due tomorrow morning at 8:05 and I'm researching like mad, don't you love waiting till the last minute. I'll be sure to check it out tomorrow.

Steve

Pix

Dude, I looked at all of your pix, but did not see ones that showed the placement of your amp(s), except for the ones where the amp is on your box...?

Just to throw this out there, but if you need another idea look at this:

When mounting my amp, I had some problems with the mounting places described. First, mounting it under the rear seat would have interfered with the seat mechanism and/or restricted air circulation when the seat was down. Mounting it behind the interior panels would have created a heat problem in the hot Texas summers. So, I decided to mount my amp by what you would call the rear passenger kick panel in my sport:

This location works great! The amp gets plenty of air with the seat up or down, is out of the way, and looks good. If I ever get a second RF amp, I'll mount it in the opposing location on the driver's side. And no, the amp doesn't get kicked much.

TJANG.

What kinda volume ?...any...heh

I mostly listen to country music, i admit going with 2 15" magma was an bit much and i got them turned down about 30%, but you can turn it wide open, and it just stays clear, ofcourse the neighboor hood doesn't really like it too much , neither does the dog next door, but it's awesome just to have an steroe i can crank up to 50.

But in most cases i don't even go over 25-30 on the radio, and that's about loud enough.

How i like them ?....i had an kicker solobaric but traded it in for the magma's and i like them better , then sound more clearly then the solo baric did, ofcourse i have 2 phoenix gold amps hooked on it , with an 130 amp alternator , 4 gauge wires with 2*60 amp fuse box and an digital capacitor , so my headlights don't flash when i do decide to turn it up.

Ofcourse this also has an neat price-tag on it, i think i vbought my magma's for like 220 bucks a piece, the amps where like 400 bucks a piece , then the capacitor for about another 100 , cabling, materials ...altogether i would say close to 1700 bucks all together , not including mid/high speakers in the front , mid in the rear and high on the doors and the equalizer and radio.

the radio is an JVC 838 with an single cd, wich works fine for me,cause i never listen to whole cd's anywyas....and the equalizer is an pioneer with graphs....

i tsounds really great.

and as far as the magma's go , i can really recommend those, i think an 15" single would make the car rock , heck even an 12" sounds great, but beware to build your speaker box really good.....i always say , there's no such things as TOO much screws, the 1st box i build of 1" MDF blew apart after an week with those magma's...so beware of that , they produse enormous sound levels...i have never tested mine but it's over 130's range i'm pretty sure...
