I got a S12L7 in a 3.25cf box and im ordering a cadence A5 amp. I have a sport and there is no room under the back seats so im wondering if mounting the amp on the box if fine. I have herd that it kills the amp much quicker but the only places i could mount the amp is either on the box or right next to the box. If you got any other suggestions let me know. UNder the drivers seat or passenger seat is out of the question.

Do not mount your amp on the sub box. It'll kill your amp and make your system easier to steal. Mount it on the back seat.

a thief sees an easy target when the sub and amp are basically 1 piece. even if you have an alarm, it'll be Gone In 60 Seconds
actually less (smash the back window, open hatch, pick up box, leave..... more like 15-20 seconds)

If you got some L-brackets and bolted the box to the floor, it would make it harder to steal and discourage a thief more easier. I've seen amps mounted on the flaps up against the back seats, but I dont really like the looks of it.

well i wont even see the amp if its mounted on the back of my seat so i guess im gonna go with that but the only draw back is if i wanna take out my system to go snowboarding there an amp right in the middle of the cargo area. but i quess its better than having a nice easy package for someone to steal :)

Just have something to Cover the amp up with like a blanket or something. Also if you bolt your sub box to your X, it's gonna be a pain to steal, but it's gonna be a pain for you to take out when you want to haul stuff.

I have 2 amps, 2 crossovers, and 2 distribution blocks mounted to my back seats. I have a blanket to cover them when I am hauling stuff. I don't have to worry about overheating because I'll take out my sub so I turn off my sub amp so it's not making heat and my amp for my components never gets really hot. I reccomend mounting your amps on the back of the seat. It's basically an installation standard in all cars.
