Do you have the Premium Sound Package or the MACH Stereo package? Have you checked in the rear cargo compartment behind the passenger seat? If there is a cubby for stuff, then you probably do not have an amp. If you have a sub in that location, then you probably DO have an amp. That's how it is on my '98, prolly the same on all gen 2's
got to the panel in the back and removed the storage cover. it has the amp but no sub. so i hooked up everything and it sounds ok. eventually i'm going to get a bypass harness and add a better amp with two in the rear. still have to do maintenance and a LOT of cleaning.
The OEM amp I had is for the front and rear door speakers. If I would have had the OEM sub, there would have been another separate amp for that. Actually, my junkyard OEM enclosure still had that amp on it when I bought it.
