ok warm weather again, that means my amp is goin to screw up some more... i think the problem is i need a cap, tell me if im right...heres what happens. in any song with bass, i turn it up nice and loud, it goes for a bit cuts out, then comes on, and cuts out, and repeats the cycle till i turn it down, and then it will start again, so i have to turn it down more and more .....and quite music makes me saaaaaaaaaaaaaad:( :( :( :(

Sounds to me like your amp is getting hot and going into protection mode... Try cooling the amps with some small fans, or get a different amp...

what amp is this?

is it getting ventilation?

it should be getting ventilation, its mountd to the back of my back seat. its a crappy alpine 5-channel, an mfh-255 or something like that. i had guessed maybe protection mode too, but i can literally make it cut out in a sec with bass at full, full volume and a bass tester. so can it get too hot that fast??

thats the same thing my Amp does ( srry sony ) and it cuts out at high bass and cranked up..........

i think its not gettingthe need power or somthing
does yours have the right size wire ??

PEACE

What sub do you have hooked up to that old alpine? I'm going to check impendence abilities of the amp

ya im really stretching its limits, i hooked up 2 mtx 6000s, 10s, in parallel, so its running a 2 ohm load.

xplorerkid, i think i have 10 gauge wire on it for power.

Sounds like you need a new amp... Or service to the old one... You can get a JBL 600.1 that will put out 600 watts @ 2 ohms for under $250 shipped...

tell me how you managed to hook up two speakers to 5 channels, lol...

or if you only used 4 channels bridged, that amp cannot handle 2ohm bridged, that's your problem, surprised the amp isn't fried.

ya i could do that, but a)im cheap b)im poor) and c) its ot worth it for the tim eim gonna have the x, im getting rid of it in like 5-6 months cause im goin to university, so i was hoping for a cheap fix, or maybe just settle for kowing whatthe problem is...... o well, Thanks for all the help guys!!

i owe you a beer
:chug:

ya im beatin the crap out of it really, so i shouldnt complain, but i hooked up the 2 10s in parallel to the one sub channel, then have the other 4 channels hooked up to 4 speakers...its a trooper man! thats why i like alpine! most people dont believe that each sub is only gettin 80 watts at 2 ohms when they hear it tho....

oh, I wasn't thinking, the 5th channel is for the subs, makes sense.

lemme check that thing again. I cannot find it, you sure that is the serial number? sounds like a powerful old little amp, try and look at the gain knob, and tell us where it is set, another thing, what head unit do you have?

ok its actually an MRH-F255 alpine. my deck is an old clarion drx6174. and man i have found the problem, seems i forgot that when i originally set my gain, as i rmember i didnt know what was high and what was low, so i set it to what sounded good, MISTAKE! wow, it was set to 3 on front, rear and sub! i should turn it down i think......

lol, let us know if it helps turning down the gains

i have the same problem with my lanzar vibe 250, it cuts out ive heard a couple different things from different ppl, spreading ur grounds out in different places, i have a chassis ground how much better ground can u get, right now i took all my **** out and one more thing when im running it hard for a while sometime it doesnt cut out put it kills my battery i have a 1 farad lighting audio capcitor and just bought a new battery with 1000 cranking and 875 cold cranking, my truck starts up real bad, barely makes it to idle sometimes just stalls...lemme know

ok well i turned the gain down and now its way louder than before, so i obviously need to do some tuning with it, on monday im gonna get the multimeter out nd do some testing with it, then im gonna do some high volume tuning.
