Does anyone use Amsoil's 5w-30, 10-30, or 0w-30 full synthetic oil on their 2002+ explorer??

I just purchased it cause amsoil says the oil has to be changed every year or 25,000 miles, not like the traditionally 3 months/3000 miles. So i figured it'll save me a lot of money, and it's full synthetic.

I would just like to know if anyone has any experience with amsoil's oil or heard anything about it.

thanks

I use the 10-30 and the dual remote by-pass system. I recently pulled my valve cover for the S/C install. Absolutly sparkling clean in there. I have run the oil for about 8000 miles and one filter swap. According to the oil analysis it's still good. So I'm pretty happy.

FWIW I have been running synthetic oil from new and Amsoil for the last 20K+ miles. I do filter changes every 5K miles and have nearly 70K on the engine. See no reason to ever use "dino" oils again.

Yes, the whole point to AMSOIL is they have been improving the products for 30 years now. They guarantee that the oil will hold to its minimum viscosity per the drain interval. I have seen oil analysis on other synthetics near 10,000 miles and they bacame 20WT oils.

Being the sponsor and things have been slow lately, if you mention this post I'll sell the first case at my normal discount price and the 2nd at cost.

This includes 2-cycle, motorcycle and transmission fluids.

The shipping is a good rate and outside of Texas no sales tax. If you are near Dallas I can drop off or meet you somewhere.

I need to change all of my fluids, I want synthetic, and I might as well buy form y our Mellotron. Which ones do you recommend for the engine, trans, transfer case, and differentials.
Thanks
Gary

Thanks. I suggest our ATF for the Trans and transfer case. We have several sizes. The 2.5 gal is popular for automatics. Just let me know.

For the engine I suggest the 0W30 and the engine flush if you are not running synthetic now. The 5W30 is great too and costs a bit less. One of my customers who used it in Minnesota said the engine was quieter outside standing by the engine than it was inside the cab before.

You need to check but yo9ur rear should use the 75W140. And the front is 75W90. 3 quarts in the rear and 2 in the front.

Send me your email and I can send a entire list for your 4.0. I can list with prices when I know the amounts you need for ATF and engine oil. email to 4value@sbcglobal.net

Thanks,
Ches

Is there really any disadvantage to running 75w90 or 80w90 in the rear instead of 75w140?

I havn't seen any, I run Amsoil 75W90 and have for years,

I wondered about that, and I'll bet there's a slightly better mileage from the thinner gear oil. I wonder why Ford "requires" 75w140 in that one differential when everyone else can use 75w90 or 80w90?

What's this? I thought 75W90 is correct for our front and rear diffs..
I have been running 75W90 for a long time.

The 4.10 limited slip rear came from the factory with synthetic 75w140 gear oil.

Ford requires 75W140 because they get $26 per quart! that's why. But if you are hauling heavy loads I would continue to use it. Not all the rear ends say to use the 140 in the rear though.

The AMSOIL 75W140 is only $11.00 per quart or less for Preferred customers.
