99 Explorer air bag warning light flashing code 36 then stays on constant. What does that translate to? Also, where is the airbag control module located? Thaaanks Paxton

My source doesn't show a 36 for my '97 so I'm not totally sure what it would be. All of the 30 series (32,33,34,35) though are for either the driver's or passenger side air-bag module. 32 and 33 are for high resistance or open, 34 & 35 are for low resistance or shorted. 36 probably has to do with the air-bag module itself rather than the SRS computer or one of the sensors up front. The SRS computer is located behind the front passenger side kick panel on my '97. Start by checking your fuses. Unfortunately even if the problem is corrected it takes 256 successful self-diagnostics before the light will clear or Ford can clear it with their NGS Tester. When I accidentally set my light off by trying to start mine with the air-bag fuse removed, I chose the key-off, key-on 256 times method. I disconnected the connector to the fuel pump shut-off switch so it didn't keep cycling with each turn of the key. It took me about an hour to do it however I did it knowing there was nothing wrong with mine since I put the fuse back in. You might try it, but then again you might end up just wasting your time if the problem is still there.
