ok guys, just installed my 2 15" fosgate subs.
when i turn it up a little bit (i know theres no such thing as a little bit with 2 15"s), it sounds like the plastic on the hatch is vibrating to all hell?
is this probably where the sound i hear is comming from??? it sounds like **** listening from the outside of the vehicle..
what can i do to stop the vibration??
help!

i have sound deadening then a layer of thin mdf then more sound deadening and then the door panel is actually screwed into that mdf.

do that and it wont rattle

any way to elaborate??
im lost...lol
what is this stuff you speak of? where can i buy it? how much is it?

mdf: medium density fiberboard

It is a plywood type product from the home center. Then use something like Dynamat with that.

Isn't two 15"s a little overkill? I can not imagine how much bass that is. How loud that must be. With that much sound coming out of in an enclosed cabin, something is bound to vibrate. When you are done Dynamiting (?) the doors then the hatch would vibrate, then the floor, then the roof, dude... where does it end?

But then again, don't mind me, all I got is the factory JBL sub. :o :p

Seriously, sometimes I don't get some bass setups, except for show. I have a single 8" with 350W RMS and it can rattle my eyes loose.

If you say it sounds bad from outside of the vehicle, it is probably the back hatch glass vibrating.
Also, heat shields under the car (around exhaust) sometimes buzz/rattle.

if it is the hatch glass, is there anything i can do?

About the only thing you can do if it's the glass is check the condition of the weatherstipping. If it's getting hard and brittle, you could replace it maybe cushioning a bit more.

The bad vibes could be the glass, but the glass may be shaken by the hatch.

mine doesn't rattle inside the truck

i did the deadening and wood thing all around and modified the door panels and everything where necessary. the only thing that really rattles now is the sunroof when its closed because the bass flexes it to the point of almost seperating from its track and it slaps back (i try not to let that happen much)

it will never sound rattle free from outside- but it shouldn't matter.

Dynomat will and should fix the rattling, using MDF pannels just makes it sound proof from the outside when mixed with Dynomat.

My friend had similar problems when he had 3 12" Thunders in the back of his hatchback. He didn't just lay the Dynomat down all over but instead tore out all his carpet, seats, EVERYTHING, and put little cut out 1-2" cubic suares over every seal and bolt. He was able to stop all of his rattling except for one of his tail lights.

You can still hear his car from the outside too (for people who like show). I can hear him when he starts up his car in the morning, he lives like 3 streets down behind me in my neighborhood and I can hear it all the way from there.

GL man, expect to spend about $50-100 on Dynomat easy.
