I have the 97 Explorer with the Premium system w/ the 6 cd changer. Recently I've brought a new headunit because the factory one was giving out and the cd's wouldn't play anymore.
I got both the harnesses that integrate into the factory amp in the back and harness that bypasses it. As of now, I'm using the the factory amp but I'm curious to know, how much more quality sound will I get if I bypass the amp?
The specs of the new reciever are right here http://www.crutchfield.com/p_105KDHDR44/JVC-KD-HDR44.html?tp=5684#details-tab
Now if I wanted to bypass the factory amp, where the hell do I run the wires from and get them into behind the receiver? I've installed new speakers before, and new headunits but never ran wires throughout the car. I know I'll have to take carpets out, but I still don't understand how do I go about doing this. ANyone shine some light please? Will it be even worth it to bypass the amp?
As of now, the speaker setup is fine, it's not too loud but if I open it louder the sound becomes distorted. I'm looking for loudness and bass if that matters.
Also, is the radio antenna, How is that connected? I've read around that the antenna is connected to the amp as well. If so, would it be possible to just connect the antenna to the new receiver? Because this receiver gets HD radio and it always cuts out. Thanks again.
Thanks in advance.
