I have a 2005 xlt w/ the Audiophile system.

I've been doing a lot of head scratching and research on these forums trying to decide on where I want to mount my amps. I will be using two alpine v12 amps. I do not want to mount them under any seats. So far it looks like my options are:

1. Behind the rear drivers side panel if they'll fit.
2. Floor cargo space under the floor panel nearest the hatch. The jack storage mount would have to be relocated but shouldn't be too difficult.

I am concerned about ventilation in both of the spots.

Do you think there is enough air to keep the amps cool?

I am leaning toward the floor space location so that I can tune/access the amps easier. What concerns should I have if I mount them in this spot?

Thanks!

If you mount in the rear drivers side panel, you would have problems with the rear window washer fluid. I would think the drivers side panel in the rear would make a better location. One thing that I had thought about for cooling, was adding a small computer fan, a 12v fan, so that there is ventilation in the area.

My plan had been to power it off the remote wire, and having it blowing at the amp. I figured it would help a little.

Alot of people put there amps in the side panels and have no problems. But a 12v fan is cheap insurance. In my Jeep Cherokee I did that and like webmaster said run it of the remote turn on lead and that way you don't forget to turn it on or off. I ran the remote lead to a relay with a lead from the battery to bump up the power. I ran 2- 6" neon light, 2- fans and my 2- amps all turing on/off with the hu.

Completely agree with sjr033.

my amp is in the storage area in the floor and i did the 12v fan thing off of the remote turn on. the only problem i have had is when i am running pretty loud for a little over an hour it went into protect mode for a few minutes then i just turned it down a little. i dont think you will have any problems with it being in either spot though.

do you have the 3rd row?
i have a 3rd row and under the 3rd seat if u remove it theres some room to put 2 amps....you might have to shave alittle of the seat cushion but not that much..thats what i'm planning on doing
