Hello....new guy here. Looks like a good Explorer community here!
Well I just officially got my wife's hand-me-down Cardinal Red 1998 XLT. I say hand me down but I actually I have somewhat considered this to be my ride for the past eight years. Why....because I have offered it much TLC and have done 100% of the maintenance. When she got a new car earlier this summer I just couldn't let her trade it in. Happy to get it.
Anyway.....enough about all that. My very first mod needs to be some rims. I pretty much have decided to go with a 18" vs 20's for a couple reasons. I have noticed that some of you here are running the 17" and 18" Cobra-R Wheel in 9" widths.
My question is: do these just bolt right up with no fitment problems? I have done the math vs the 25mm offset they come with vs the 25mm offset that the stock 15x7 wheels have and that simply puts 1" in both directions. (1" in and 1" out). Does that work out alright.
I found these in my price range on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-...egoryZ43958QQitemZ8009185255#ebayphotohosting
By the way I was going to run 255/55-18 tires which are with about 3/16 of the OE rolling diameter of the OE 235/75-15 tires.
Lastly.....do many of you run the high quality studded spacers to move the rears out a bit?
Many thanks,
Reid (aka HawgNut)
