Here's the history on my 97 EB 5.0 V8 HVAC system:

Last year, my blower motor died. I replaced it and all was good for a couple of months. Then, the system started acting up again. I have automatic temperature control, and the fan would only turn on if I manually set it to high. So I did the searches on this board, found that this was a common problem, and decided getting a new resistor would do the trick. So I bought the resistor.

Turns out it's the wrong one. I didn't take out the old one yet, but comparing the plug on the old one to the plug on the new one it is obvious that they are significantly different.

Is there multiple types or did the part store just screw up? I'd post some pics here of my setup, but I'm not permitted by forum rules.

Can anyone give me some help here?

EATC uses an electronic speed control instead of a resistor pack.

from the service manual:
The A/C blower motor speed control, located in the A/C evaporator housing , converts low current signals from the electronic control assembly to a high current, variable ground feed to the blower motor. A delay function provides a gradual increase or decrease in blower motor speeds in all conditions. In addition, there is a high blower relay integral with the blower speed controller which provides power for maximum airflow in the high blower position.
