Well Ryan,
I'm not an Explorer god, but you can't do it unless you bend the frame, and that's not something just anybody can do. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the way the guard mounts to the frame is from the bottom and insides of the frame. Is that true? Plus you would have to change the height of the bumper and seeing as there are no body lifts available for 95+ models, the bumper mounts for a pre 95 would not fit. You are either going to try and use a pre 95 body lift, or maybe go the way of the hocky puck. Do me a favor and take a good look at the mounting of your gaurd, and let me know exactly how it is mounted, because if it mounts to the top of the frame, there might be a way to do it.

Hey Ray,

The gaurd mounts to a bracket that mounts to the frame. I was thinking of using a 98 ranger lift like tc used I have a friend that owns a accesories place and we are investigating it. But if we fabricated some brackets and some how inverted the bracket that mounts on the frame , maybe that would work. What do you think, think that would work.

Ryan,
If it mounts to a bracket that mounts to the frame, then you should be able to extend the bracket by making the 2 pieces that mount to the frame 2" longer. Use the old pieces as a template and make new ones 2" longer, then cut the old mounting pieces off and weld the 2 longer pieces on to the bracket. You get the drift. what do you think?

Yeah I think were thinking the same way , we are trying to get all of the measurements right now and hopefully by this weekend rick will be getting some picture with my truck with a three inch body lift . that will make a total of five inches lift I have got from the torsion bars and the shackles and the body lift.

Hey guys -

Once you guys extend the brackets for the bumper, just keep in mind that the bumper is now useless for its intended purpose. If you're involved in an accident, there's nothing to absorb the impact but the two little brackets holding the bumper.

True....most of the time.

If the brackets are made right and are of equal or greater strenght than the frame the difference should be minimal.

The sole purpose for the bracket is that the brush gaurd is the exact width of the frame and the bumper is mounted to the frame . the gaurd is mounted to the bracket that puts the brush gaurd under the frame. what I have come up with is heat the brush gaurd and bend it out to just mount it strait to the frame when I come up with all the other stuff and thereby elliminating the need for the extra bracket.
