another stupid 4wd question!

Hey guys. One more question-

Basically I'm having an issue with my 4wd - it works just fine in 4wdlo, but won't respond in 4wdhi. When I press the 4wdhi button i get a click from the module in the rear drivers side panel, by the rear washer container, but the 4wd doesn't come in and the 4x4 light doesn't come on.


here's my question. theres a red light that stays on constantly next to my 4wdhi button. i'd heard someone tell me that that means something, like that a certain part of my 4wd system is acting up. they mentioned that if it is blinking it means one thing, if it is just on solid it means another. can someone help me out here? my only other idea was to clean the transfer case contacts.... any ideas?

an orange light? if it is on solid, that means you are in 4wd...... if it blinks, the shift module is screwed up or the tcase motor isnt right.... 4lo will only work if 4hi is engaged

It stays on a real dim orange, and then when i press the 4wdhi button it gets brighter orange - but i am positive that i can't have just 4wdhi - it won't engage - but when i put it in 4wdlo (ie engage both buttons,) i get movement in my front and rear wheels. i am just baffled by this.

4lo will not work if 4 hi is not engaged
