another tcase question(4405)

i have a 95 X, 4.0 5sp(m5r1) with the 4405 tcase. A few years back my tcase went out and i bought one off ebay. Apparently i bought the wrong model because my speedo wont work. is there some way to fix that problem?

not at all or the wrong speed?

Was the replacement out of a 95? My guess would be that the speed sensor is not picking up for some reason... but 4auto probably doesn't work either, does it?

What year and model did the replacement transfer case come out of?

no idea what was in it to begin with

You purchased a t case from the wrong year, and the speedo setup changed. Sell the case you have and make sure to get one from a 95.

If my memory serves, the 95 and 96 t-cases have the rear shaft speed sensor. In 97 they went to the CV-joint front driveshaft, so the front output flange is different (and it's not just a matter of swapping one for the other either). For 98, they dropped the rear shaft speed sensor. So, for a 95, you need one from a 95 or 96 for it to be a plug and play installation.
