I replaced the tensioners in my motor (4.0) and the passenger side went in fine but the driver side was very tight to get back in. It was not binding on the threads but it took tons or muscle to get it all t way in. The one I took out of the driver side had seized up so it didn't have any give to it. It has been running fine but now I am getting some chatter and it goes away once the engine is at operating temp but it is intermittent through the rpm's. Any suggestions before I dump a ton of money I don't have on new timing chains?

The clattering noise could be a tensioner.

In my case, the clattering proved to be a broken cassette and my motor had to come out for new chains.
