Anti roll bar link replacement.....

There are lots of posts on here regarding the 'torsion twist' method of raising the front. Most people have found that a max of 2 inches otherwise you wear out the cv joints very quickly. And get an alignment done afterwards.

thanks peps .....kev could you also give me a price on those rear shackles

Hi Guys. The shackles are going to be about £40 a pair + postage.
I am going to measure the dimensions of the standard shackles on my Ex compared to the drawing I've downloaded to make sure they are accurate for our leaf springs.
I can see a problem with the self levelling though because the body will be lifted. I can see about fabricating an extension bracket if you like.
Kev.

Shackles

Hi Guys,
I reacon if I make the shackle lengths the same as shown in the diagram 'H' posted, it will raise the back end about 3.5". I'm a bit worried that might be an excessive extra amount of angle on the propshaft.
Can you please give me feedback on what extra height you wanted the rear of the body to sit?
Thanks Kev.

Shackles

Thanks Swampy, I'll make some prototype ones at what you want.
Kev.

I believe the drawing to be of the already tried and tested Warrior shackles. So the resulting rear lift should be fine... Also the fact that the metal thickness is much better than the stock pressed ones and has the bracing in the middle should mean added strength. I am happy to go with the spec in the drawing- hope thats possible as my back end sags a little anyway- Think most of the stock ones do when the leaf springs get aged.
So with a 1.5-2 inch TT at front and the shackles she should sit square at around plus 2 inch all round.

Any thoughts to add guys and gals?
Once again- thanks so much for all the effort you are putting into this project for us mate!

acording to that thread there are two differant lentgh rear shackles on the standerd ex 6.5 or 5.5 is that the same for our uk spec ex's?

Yeah I just noticed that- Think it works out at around half the measurment height as a lift when fitted. Well I am happy to go for the longer length if thats ok, as I think with a 2 inch TT it should work out level for me.

i think mines lower at the back so that should sort mine out as well..........ill go for the same size

Update

Hi guys,
My Ex has its bum high in the air at the moment on axle stands. I've got my old shackles off and will be fitting the new ones in the next couple of days. I've got to source some longer bolts because the side plates are much thicker on the new ones.
I will let you know the difference in height with the new shackles made to the drawing specs.
Kev.
