I have the Yokohama Geolander AT +2's I haven't had them for too long but I must say they ride awesome! Nice and quiet on the highway. They are really soft though. Anyway hope this helps.

Peace

Oops nevermind. I viewed that link and the kind I have are not on there. Sorry about that.

Peace

yeah, they got a good rating too. what is bad about them being soft? do they need to be rotated more? wouldn't a softer tire improve ride quality?

they are on a later page and got just as good of a rating as the other two. so my above Q's still stand. thanks

No, Like I said ride is great. I presume becuase they where soft. I live on a gravel road though and every time I've had soft tires I get flats like crazy. I haven't had a flat yet and have had the tires for about 20 days or so. we'll see down the road.

Peace

thanks for your help in my neverending search for the ''perfect tire''. lol. thanks again

I have the yokohama AVS s/t tire. It’s made for sport trucks. I love them. There fairly quiet and handle better than any other tires I had on my X especially in the rain.
I know it’s not on the list of tires you pointed too but just thought I’d point them out. Here is a site I found that sells them with a picture of them.

The reason the HT/S got such a high rating, is because there's only 2 reviews. They are a new tire. The other tire had 36 reviews.

yeah i did see that but ti think they still say the ratings come from an online survey and not from the individual ratings.

I have had the Geolander AT+II's for about 10,000 miles. I have been on and off road...dirt, rocks, sand, and snow. These tires have great on road manners and are great off road. I can't say enough good things about them.
I have had 3 sets of BFG AT ko's to compare these to and I am glad I made the change.

Just make sure you rotate them every 3K miles or so though. They are kinda soft.

Can I ask for a clarification regarding the softness. Is that comparing an LT rated tire to an LT rated tire or to a P rated tire? Do they put fewer plies in the Yokohama tires?

I think the yokohama's have the same ply as any LT or P rated tire. I think that they are just maybe made of a softer rubber compound?

I have Yokohama 60-seriess on my Mercury Grand Marquis, and they are awesome. Very grippy, yet forgiving - as you approach the limit of adhesion, they very gradually start slipping - back off the gas and they straighten right out. Much better than the Michelins I had on prior.

Ugly tire, though.

well don't want an ugly tire. i'm sure the 31's wold look nicer.:D

When I said the Geolander AT+II's were soft, I meant the rubber compound. It is a little softer then other AT's so the on road handling and overall stickyness of the tire is pretty good. They also grip rock very well. That comes with the down side of un equal wear if the tires aren't rotated fairly often. IMO, that is a small price to pay for such a great tire.

yeah, and the softer tire would also mean smoother ride right?

Yeah a softer tire would mean a smoother ride. I love the ride my yokohoma's give me. It must be the tread design of the geolander at II, but it isn't loud on the highway at all. Nice ride and quiet. You can't beat that. this is my first experience so far with the tires and even though I haven't had them for too long I must say I am impressed. I also think the tread pattern design is very cool looking.
