Anyone know of any company currently offering products for the 02 XLT?

I'm itching to make some changes but I'm having a hard time finding product...Any area welcomed...

How 'bout new wheels & tires! A new hi-performance exhaust system always helps, you may have to get it custom made but price is reasonable (<$200). If you're talking about lift kit, nothing is available and probably nothing will, unless you want to customize it which would cost you some serious $$$. Anything can be done as long as you got the dough.

I imagine that you could fab up a body lift without too much trouble. Bumper brackets might be a bear though. :smoke:

arent there lifts for the 4wheel independent expeditions? im sure ive seen soem custom lifts for them. you can definitly lift it but not with out some well thought out and well fabbed parts. ide love to see a new one with a big lift. i have to admit they starting to grow on me. i wasnt very interested in the new explorers but with a bottemles pocket you couls build one to be a pretty decent trail rig.

The rear axle shafts going through the hole in the frame would pose the greatest difficulty in putting a lift on it. It would take a serious lift to get the shafts down below the frame and far enough below it that it wouldn't come in contact when the suspension flexed. My personal thoughts are that you will never see a marketed lift kit for the 2002 4-door.

echomakr - What kind of mods are you looking for (lift, performance, appearance)? The 2002 V8 hasn't been around long enough to have much if anything in the way of modifications. It will depend on what the market wants. My '97 (as well as the '95 & '96) were completely skipped when it came to a lift kit. Unfortunately with the way Ford is taking the Explorer (more street - less off-road) the only thing in the way of modifications you are likely to see will be to make it into more of a street machine. If that is what you want then you may be in luck. Fortuntatly the 4.6L V8 has been around so I am sure performance add-ons will start making their way to it.

performance based...

I'm mainly looking for performance based products and perhaps some appearance gadgets. I'm not interested in lifting it, although I think it would look awesome jacked up.

Intake, exhaust, chip, tranny mods etc...

Gabe - Expeditions aren't 4-wheel independent yet. Supposedly they will be by 2003 (or is it 2005?), but for now they've got a leaf-sprung live axle in the back. :smoke:

Anyone have a custome exhaust from a national company?

Perhaps I can e-mail them and ask for a custom package?

Just look in the phone book for places in your area that do custom exhaust pipe bending and tell them what you want. You should be able to get a Flowmaster 40 series (pretty loud but sounds great) and custom dual exit exhaust put on for about $200 or so.

Good luck and let us see some pics.

bislamjoe,
your right. i was reading an article in 4Wheeler magazine and it had a 4 w independent expedition in it, but of course it was all tricked. it was big and red. i cant remember why they did it but i will try to find the article.
