Ok I have a 94 xlt 2wd 4 door. It is the factory maroon color with gold pinstripe. My tint is blacked out. What rims do you think would look good? Any opinions.....I don't won't the tires to stick out more than 1/2" or so.

what kind of look are you going for? off road or street?

depends on the look your going for. i would get some centerlines. im going for daytons on mine but i dont want my "lowrider rims" too little i also like borbet irims but thats more for like ricers and german cars like BMWs and VWs

weld super singles are nice too if ur into an offroader

Cross between off road and street being it's only 2wd. I just want something with a tough look. My color theme on outside is chrome, black and the maroon paint.

painting the stock wheels black also kinda looks cool IMO. u could do that and its a cheap alternative

I am looking at the black cragar Soft 8 rims with chrome lug nuts and chrome center caps. Opinions?

yeah those looks sick

Dick Cepek DC-1s are aslo cool maybe

I LOOOVE the look of Soft 8's on explorers, I just hate steel wheels. That's why I'm probably going to go with, and recommend to you, these following ones

Model 172, the first ones

I work at NTB, and we have a floor model of these, and they are solid, well built, and the finish is great. They also come in Matte Black, but I'm partial to the polished. Plus they are buy 3 get one free til the end of may.

those look like centerline scouts sorta.

I've been tempted with those black ones. How do those VLine wheels do? I can't find much info on them. Some claim American Racing makes them?

They are made in china, so basically the same plant just whatever center cap and tolerance specs for the most part. I've been bored and have compared them to the American Racing ones, and the actual "center" (theoretically the "spokes" but it's just solid billet with holes) is much much thicker and beefier than the AR ones. Plus somebody at work told me that Konig owns Vline.

Some of the Vline wheels seem cheap, but once we got a floor model of that wheel I knew it was solid and well made. Heck, they have a Lifetime structural warranty.

^ That's good to know. It was a given where they were made:) ... Most are. Eagle, Weld, and Centerline are made in USA. I don't know of many others.

i think daytons are also made in usa but theres alot of bootlegs and they have another compettitor but i cant think of their name they are also made in US

Mcleans thats what they are . THIS IS DEFNITELY AN AQUIRED TASTE but im looking into getting either daytons or mcleans 100 spoke rims like these. but it defnitly misses the "offroad look"

Those would be real fun to keep clean. My 07 Mariner had 15 or so spokes, and they were aweful to clean & protect.

I have black steel wheels on mine and I love them... gives your X an aftermarket one of a kind look for pretty cheap. The only thing I would say, you might want to clear coat the center caps or do something because they get rusty pretty easily. My original ones got rusted and I ordered a new set, then I went to China for four months and came back and the new ones were rusty already! I took the original ones and painted them black, just got to get some clear coat and I think I may switch those on to get a new look again... that being said, I do like how the chrome caps look with the black wheel, I may call the shop I got the caps at and see if maybe they will give me a new free set!
