Any recommendations from the Audio gods???

I'm thinking of getting 2 elemental designs e10a's or e12a's. I'm a little unsure of what amp to go with. Can some of the guru's help me out please?

Either the 10a or the 12a only come in dual 2ohm voice coils, so you'll want an amp that puts out max power at 2ohms.

You'll want to wire the subs in series to produce that load on the amp.

Here's a picture to make it more clear (image taken from rockford fosgate's website www.rockfordfosgate.com )

Now that that's settled, what's your budget on amps?

You'll want between 800-1200wrms to do those subs justice. You could go up to 1500wrms if you went with the 12s.

Also consider the cost of upgrading the alternator, new underhood wiring, amp kit, and possibly a new battery. I don't know your budget, so I'm just reminding you of the other costs involved.

Well i have a system (sort of ) I have a 4 guage amp kit going to a Rockford Fosgate 500a. And a JLw310 speaker. I'm looking for something good but not mainstream. That's why i'm going with the ed subs. Still unsure what brand/power amp to buy to complement the subs i'm going to get. My previous 2 12's were wired in series. But thanks for the diagram.
My price range for an amp is $600 or less
P.S. I have some installer friends who are very anti capictor.
What are some thoughts about this?

Depends on your electrical system.. If it's solid with a good aftermarket alternator and an upgraded battery, a cap has the potential to do some good.

When you put a cap on a stock system, whenever the cap discharges it'll drain the battery to recharge itself. That'll cause extra strain on the battery and the alternator, and can cause them to go out pretty quick. Could possibly even leave you stranded.

As for amps, see if you can find a Tsunami 1800.. It puts out max power at 2ohms, but might be a little overkill. If you're easy on the gains, then it should do a pair of 12s every bit of justice, and then some.

Check around at www.ikesound.com , www.sounddomain.com , and www.thezeb.com

If you see an amp that claims 1000watts, but costs under $200, don't buy it. You get what you pay for, and you want to send some good clean power to those subs.

Also check out www.caraudioforums.com and do some poking around in the amplifiers section. If you have a question, use the search feature first of course.. If you don't find what you need, go ahead and ask. Most of those guys don't mind answering questions.

Goodluck.

what do you think abou this amp: Avionixx AXT 1200.2
Avionixx AXT 1200.2

It looks like the power rating are good but have you heard of the brand and if so how is the quality?

Avionixx is a slight step up from the Tsunami I believe.. I think that should work out pretty well if you can get a good price/warranty on it.

600watts per sub is nothing to be scoffed at. It will pound fairly decent.

might I also suggest a MA Audio 401sx mono amp, which puts out 1800 watts at .05 ohm, both of youre speakers wired in parallel. usually you can find'em around 300 or so......
