Hey guys. I'm going to take my Explorer to the dealership by my work tomorrow to have it checked out, just in case, but I wanted to run my situation by you just in case they try to give me a line of BS (why oh why do I keep buying Fords?).. I have an 05 XLT with just over 10000 miles on it. Just had the oil changed (at the dealership because it was free) on Thursday.
Anyway. I've had occassional situations of a low and rough idle. Seems to me that when I bought it the idle was around 800 rpms. These days it idles around 600, and the engine shakes around a little bit. Not just on startup either, at stoplights, etc as well. Just wondering what other 02+ with the 4.0 normally idle at....
Second. Went to start it to today and it wouldnt even turn over. Twice. Didn't sound like a starter/electrical problem. So I gave it another try, slammed the gas, and that got it to turn over. It surged at about 1200 rpms for 10-15 seconds, then went down to 600 with the rough idle, a little more severe than usual. I let it run a couple minutes, shut it off, and started it back up again. It turned over, but did the 1200 rpm surge again, followed by the 600 rpm idle, a little better than the first time.
Anyway, I'm going to see what the dealership says (although it will probably be "We were unable to duplicate the situation. Here are your keys back" like usual.) Any thoughts, anyone?
