I just picked up a loaded 2002 that has had a !cheap! aftermarket CD/MP3 player installed. Is there a way to figure out which factory radio it had? I'd look at a better aftermarket, but this one has the volume and channel controls on the steering wheel and I'd like to be able to use those. Ideas or suggestions?

Hi there...

You could run the vin number by the parts department Ford/Merc and they can give you a part number that shows your exact model. Also, there's one more area... let me look real quick...

Ford/Merc...

What a coincidence... it appears to be the same the came from my 03 xlt, which just happens to be for sale... I had problems with the factory unit overheating - not a hazard, but not for me, but there are people who say they work fine... There's a member here from TN that says his works without issue... check it out. If it's what you need, I'll hold it for you if you want to buy...

Thanks guys. Is there a way to find out of the CD-6 radio is compatible? If I can, I'd prefer to use that one.
