Wanting an Explorer
I was just wondering if anyone on this board had an Explorer that was used as a prerunner like Perry McNeil's yellow Explorer. I didn't see any in the members rides section. I've pretty much decided on building up an Explorer so anybody that can help me with ideas would be appreciated.

Use the search and you should come up with something. I know there are a few but I cant think of their names.

Yes there are some prerunners here. I don't know a lot about pre-runners but I think you should look for a 2WD Explorer with 3.73 or 3.55 gears (not 4.10 or lower). Then put a locker in the rear, lift kit, and 31's or bigger.
Of course you could also do some other mods, like exhaust, chip, TB...basically spend a lot of money. hehe

to post pics for you so ppl know who we are talking about:

Mine ain't bad for high speed running. It can soak up a foot of air without flinching and has the power to cruise ;)

Dead Link Removed

Not specifically built for prerunning though.

Mine is slowly becoming pre-runnerish. I'll post some pics tomorrow of the work in progress.

Thanks for the pics guys. The search turned up a lot of posts and that helped. That X for sale on prerunners.net is EXACTLY what I want to do to my X when I get it. He seriously had the same ideas as I did. I wouldn't mind owning that truck. I emailed that guy but he never replied. He lives not too far away from me so I'm thinking of giving him a call and asking if I can come and look at it if it hasn't sold yet.

That pre runner, it one of the tightest explorers that I have seen, I just wish I could see it in person, and its still 4X4. I would like to put coil overs on mine, but its a 98, and it would be alot of work. I love the look of the fenders and everything else..but alot of work..
