Here is the deal:

I removed the stock coolant temp sending unit from the lower intake manifold in order to run a Autometer coolant gauge. Now I want to hook my stock guage up.

Does anybody make a Y type fitting so I can run both guages.

I'm sure you could find everything you'd need from a hardware store. It's all standard type fittings.

However it might be quite a setup because you'll need to screw this "Y" adapter into the manifold and then have the normal sensor and the aftermarket attached to it. I could see somethingl like that getting to be pretty good size and sticking up really far.

Also the fittings where the actual adapters screw in will need to acomodate the size of the sensor itself. ...if that makes any sense. :D

Well the problem with making my own Y fitting is that both sensors must be submerged in the coolant, kinda tricky.... I guess I could try it but I figured somebody has already done something like this. I guess my other option is to move my mechanical sending unit to another location, in the hose????....

That might be even better. Maybe cut the hose in half and then insert some sort of a metal fitting that one of the sensors could screw into.

But just make sure it's the coolant into the radiator to give an accurate reading. :)

Here is another way to do it..

On the 1993 ranger (that is where I saw it) the water temp sensor is actually in the heater hose.. Just get 2 of the fittings (the sensor was the same between that fitting and the one on the lower intake on the X).. plug in your sensors and your up and running.. That way they will also be reading the same water..
