Run Cancelled......read on if you want more info. The park ownership changed hands at the new year so it's no longer open to full size 4x4's.

RIP "600 Acres" Jan 1, 2006

If i can find someone to go with I'm planning on going to an ORV park in Iowa on either Sat the 14th or on monday the 16th since I have it off. The park is just south of Cedar Rapids near Solon. It's the only public Off Road Place in Iowa. Expect lots of mud, steep hills, trees, and a sandy creek crossing. Here's a website with a breif description. (dead link)

I've been there once before when I was completely stock. I'm looking forward to be'n a little more "adventurous" this time. Here's the only pick i have from when I was there.

I'll pry get there late morning, wheel for a couple hours, eat lunch, then wheel for a few more hours if nothing breaks. If you want info PM me.

So, 600 acres is still open? I heard about a year or so ago, it was getting shut down... I've gotta get my truck together, but I might haul 'er out there late spring or in fall to wheel it.... I'd like to go late spring to test it for attica in june... I'll have to get backt o you on that though....

Good to know it's still open!

As far as i know it is still open to Full Sized 4x4's. I have talked to some people that live in that area and it is still open to them as of like 2 days ago. I have also heard that it may be closed off in the future, so this may be one of the last times to run this place.

Ok, just called the Iowa DNR since they just took control of it this year. It was the Army Corps of Engineers.....and they said it was for ATV's only. After further investagation on their website I found that they don't start to patrol ATV trails/parks till spring....also they have not posted any signs in the area yet that say the area is closed to full size 4x4's so if someone wanted to go on "one last run" there and did get caught in a rare occurence, they could most likely play dumb and get out of it easily since there are no signs aginst it currently up.

oh, by the way, I wasn't trying to imply anything or cause someone to break any laws...

Run is off. :( I guess we can all say goodbye to this park for this year.
