I haven't read up on suspension lifts for the X yet, but aren't any of the lifted X's flipping the axle underneath the axle and using blocks to get even more height? Or aren't there any other vehicles with the same diameter axle that would utlilize the same radius of U-bolt? I've known a few people who've had blocks from AutoZone crack, rather avoid that if possible ;)

a lot of fords use the same rear end as the explorer.... mustangs, rangers with a 4.0, lots of vehicles..... and about the suspension, we already have a leaf spring mounted below the axle... are you talking about a lift then using blocks to gain more lift? that would require a spring over suspension setup.... you can add blocks to the standard setup and lower the vehicle though, our leafs are already below the axle

The block kits from AutoZone will fit an Explorer, it's just real hard to get the u-bolts into the shock plate. It is possible, I have not had any problems so far with this (and many others have not as well).

I know on Rangers a lot of them buy a flip kit to get a 4-5" drop and blocks to go lower (once the axle's on top). I figured some of the Explorer's must be dropping the axle below the the leafs and blocking it up for even more lift. I know a few people who've had those aluminum blocks from Auto Zone crack, can anyone recommend a 4" angled steel block that has u-bolts that will fit (don't want the u-bolts excessively long either)....

Once you do SOA, the good way to lift more is using the leafs springs themselves or shackles. I wouldn't really trust an SOA with cheapo blocks, dunno why. Call me a safety nut

I have some BellTech blocks that i ordered from them a while ago and the blocks and U-bolts fit almost perfect, almost no struggling what so ever

Hey Yomie, were they a universal block from BellTech?

Yes i Believe so. the u-bolts fit right over the axle, no pulling, tugging, or prying to fit the shock plates, they fell right into the holes. the only problem that i did encounter is that the bolt hole on the bottom of the block wasn't big enough for the leaf bolt...nothiing a dremmel couldn't take care of

is it just me or is any one else confused as to whether or not this is a lift or a drop thread???
