I wouldn't cut the carpet - it's too easy to lift out of the way intact. And I wouldn't cut the odd-shaped hole he did - only a simple rectangle, maybe just around those 2 humps. And I'd use self-tapping sheet metal screws and gum sealant (TackyTape) like I include with the Bronco kits that I sell.
