hey gang, i wanted to know if anyone has any experience messing with a powerglide transmission my neighbor wants me to rebuild his (its only two speed has to be alot easier than the 4r55e any info or where to look i would appreciate it.

You are in luck. When I started the A4LD Diary, there was a dearth of good information out there. I had to start pretty much from scratch with no jumpstart.

The 4R70W has been far easier. LOTS of good stuff on it.

So it is on the Powerglide. A good start might be the HP publications book (HP puts out some really good how to books) Here is a link.

Also do a web search (like a google) I bet you will find a lot of good info there too.

From what I understand, the Powerglide is, like the C-4, VERY easy to rebuild. Your 4R55 experience should qualify you nicely.
 






thanks glacier the only thing im finding so far is that if it needs some hard parts it might be kinda tough to find i guess they are becoming out dated or no more production on certain things. anyway thanks for the info im hoping to be tearing into it this weekend. if it were a ford item i would post some pics but i might make some ford people angry with a gm product on here.(ha-ha)
 


















No sorry, I ditched all of mine in favor of 3 & 4 spd autos. PGs are good for strip & circle track duty but suck for street use.
