Ok just curious if anyone has used this oil. I know the oil is marketed and designed for diesels but apparantley diesel oils have a high detergent content which may help my Explorer from ticking so damn loud. One of the lifters has collapsed and will knock interminttently.

I run this oil in my F250 with a gasoline/carb'd 460 in it and it seems to like it. I was recommended to use Rotella in my truck. What do you guys think of this synthetic oil in my Explorer. It has 167K on it and doesn't leak. The X is really clean mechanically especially the frame/undercarriage/suspension.

lol well i wont run any synethic in any of my vehicles. especially since some of them actually cause more soot to develop in the motor. BTW its generally not suggested to use synethic in a motor that has been running reg in it. i seen it cause leaks in motors around some of the gaskets....

There are problems with leaks due the lower viscosity of some, but even if the engine has run dino oil it is ok to run synthetic. Most synthetic actually clean better and help with cold start-ups better than there dino counter part.

Diesel Oils I don't know what to say about them as most will have a better concentration of anti-wear additives due to the tighter tolerances/ higher pressures. As for running it in a gasoline engine, it has been done and I have heard nothing wrong with it.

I don't think it will fix any inherent problems. It could actually make the lifter tap worse due to the viscosity, but I will leave that to the pros. :D
