I am about to receive my autostart to install on my manual trans and wondered if anyone else has installed one and what their thoughts are??

Looking for all kinds of feedback.

to the best of my knowledge nobody would install it on a car or truck with manual tranny even if you asked them to....... see, there is a little problem with that..... you just have to remember every time you get out to leave your tranny in neutral - otherwise - well, when you try to start it and it's in gear - it will start rolling.....

i ahvent tried it, but i dont see why it wouldnt work. You would have to put in a relay or something though to make the ecu think that the clutch pedal is in when it is starting.
And yeah, Dre is right in that you better make sure that the car is outta gear when you park it, otherwise itll try to start in gear and probbaly do some damage to the car since you would have bypassed the safety to make sure it doesnt start unless the clutch is in.

it's illegal in the state of michigan to install a remote start on a manual trans vehicle, a few years ago they passed a law after some moron hit his remote start well the car was in his garage and it crushed his little girl between the bumper and the wall :nono:

illegal

to my knowledge it is illegal to have remote starts on any manual transmission vehicle in all fifty states, if you read about them in the catalogs they say for automatics only, good reason too, i wouldnt do it, i have seen someone who thought they even left it in nuetral and it rolled away when they started and hit a car head on Just my suggestion Adam

I know it is tricky but I found a company that sells one for a manual tranny. Its a little screwy but you have to follow a sequence of things for the autostart to activate.

1. Engage e-brake
2. Place in nuetral
3. Lights will flash
4. Leave car running
5. Lock door

Car will shut off, if door is opened autostart will de-activate.

Not much of a problem up here except that sometimes in the winter an E-brake can freeze. Most people here in Alaska leave their cars running and run into stores etc. I have modified my ignition switch so that I can remove my keys while engine is running so I can lock car and keep it warm. I also use a block heater during the winter and an oil pan heater.

They are legal in Canada. I had a Dodge P/U that I had one installed on. They are kind of a pain to use as you can see in the post above but I do not think that one which is installed correctly should pose any problems.

i have one installed on my explorer (for sale on e-bay) i remote started it in gear it it took off.... no one got hurt, it was funny.... but i never used remote star again
